In the early hours of May 3, 2019, the vibrant nightlife of downtown Minneapolis was shattered by gunfire that ended the life of 26-year-old Artrail Tevin Pritchard. A Black/African American man from the neighboring city of St. Paul, Pritchard was in the city's Warehouse District when a dispute between two groups of people violently escalated. The altercation, which took place around 12:20 a.m. on the 300 block of North 1st Avenue, culminated in at least one person opening fire.
