Abdullah Ibrahim Ramzy, a 23-year-old white male from Bloomington, Minnesota, was fatally shot on January 20, 2025, in south Minneapolis. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on the 3400 block of Third Avenue South. Minneapolis police responded to reports of gunfire and discovered Ramzy suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save his life, he succumbed to his injuries at Hennepin Healthcare's emergency room.
Authorities have classified Ramzy's death as a homicide,
citing multiple gunshot wounds as the cause. A nearby home was also struck by gunfire during the incident, though no additional injuries were reported. Approximately ten minutes after Ramzy's shooting, another fatal incident occurred in an alley on the 3100 block of Harriet Avenue South. Police found the body of 35-year-old James Edward Smith, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators are working to determine whether the two shootings were connected.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Ramzy's death. The Minneapolis Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and urges anyone with information to come forward.
