In the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 18, 2019, Dajuon Johnson, a 22-year-old Black / African American male from Saint Paul, Minnesota, was fatally wounded in a shooting. The incident occurred at approximately 4:15 a.m. outside a BP gas station located on the 1300 block of University Avenue. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Johnson with a life-threatening gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported Johnson to Regions Hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries four days later, on Saturday, June 22, 2019. His death was officially ruled a homicide, marking the 11th in the city of Saint Paul for that year.
The Saint Paul Police Department initiated an investigation into the shooting death of Dajuon Johnson. In the immediate aftermath and in the years that have followed, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the case. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with his murder, and the case remains an open and ongoing investigation. Law enforcement has periodically asked for the public's assistance, encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
