Larry Borteh, a 34-year-old educator and youth mentor from Minneapolis, was found fatally shot in a car that had crashed in the Hawthorne neighborhood on July 2, 2020. The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. near the intersection of North 21st Avenue and North 4th Street. Authorities believe Borteh was shot elsewhere, possibly in the 2100 block of North Fremont Avenue, before his car crashed.
He was transported to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Minneapolis Police Department responded to the scene and found Borteh with apparent gunshot wounds inside the vehicle. A man who might have been involved in the crime fled the scene but was quickly apprehended by responding officers. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was taken into custody as the investigation continued.
