On a cold evening of December 2, 2023, Darien Jamal Roberson, a 23-year-old Black male from Saint Paul, Minnesota, lost his life in a sudden act of violence. The tragic events unfolded in the parking lot of a strip mall in Edina, a suburb of Minneapolis. Darien was attending a birthday celebration for a mutual friend at a restaurant with a group of people, including the man who would ultimately take his life.
