On April 25, 2021, Tyreese Harris, a 45-year-old man from Burnsville, Minnesota, was fatally shot outside The Foundry Bar in St. Paul. The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. when Harris was involved in an altercation with Marlon Walker, a 29-year-old man from St. Paul. Surveillance footage captured the moment Walker's car pulled up next to Harris's vehicle. Walker exited his car, and a struggle ensued between the two men, during which a flash was seen, indicating the gunshot.
Harris was found by police with a gunshot wound to his stomach and was transported to Regions Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries early the next morning.
Marlon Walker was identified as the suspect in the shooting. Witnesses at the scene corroborated the surveillance footage, identifying Walker as the individual involved in the altercation with Harris. Following the incident, Walker fled the scene, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 6, 2021, Walker was apprehended outside a hotel in Richfield, Minnesota. He was subsequently charged with one felony count of second-degree murder in Ramsey County District Court.
The St. Paul Police Department, along with partner agencies in the Twin Cities area, played a crucial role in locating and arresting Walker. St. Paul Police Chief Todd Axtell expressed pride in his team's efforts, stating that while the arrest would not bring Harris back, it was a significant step towards justice for the victim.
