On the evening of March 14, 2025, 14-year-old Jerron George Chapman, a white male from Saint Paul, Minnesota, sustained a gunshot wound to the head while at a relative's home on the 300 block of Bates Avenue in the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood. Emergency responders arrived around 9:25 p.m. and transported him to Regions Hospital, where he was placed on life support.
Despite medical efforts, Jerron was declared brain-dead shortly thereafter.
Jerron's mother, Kitrinna Simonson, described her son as an intelligent, athletic, and compassionate individual who excelled in school and was deeply loved by his family. In a profound act of generosity, the family decided to donate his organs, resulting in the saving of three lives: a 65-year-old man received his lungs, and his liver was divided between a 10-year-old boy and a 39-year-old woman.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Police have not yet determined how the 14-year-old white male came into possession of the firearm. At the time of the incident, Jerron was with friends at the residence, and authorities have conducted interviews with those present. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the official cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy.
