On New Year's Day, January 1, 2025, a tragic incident in Durbin, West Virginia, led to the death of Christopher Michael Matheny, a 50-year-old White/Caucasian male. Matheny, who was visiting family from his home in Missouri, was fatally wounded by a gunshot to his lower abdomen while inside a residence on Oak Drive. The shooting occurred at approximately 2 a.m. when a man, later identified as Jason Franklin Brickles, 47, of Valley Head, arrived at the home.
