In the early evening of February 26, 2020, tragedy struck in West Baltimore when 31-year-old Melissa Brown, a Caucasian female, was found suffering from gunshot wounds. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. in the 1600 block of W. North Avenue. Police located Brown nearby in the 1800 block of N. Carey Street with wounds to her chest and neck.
Emergency services rushed Melissa Brown to a nearby hospital where she underwent surgery for her life-threatening injuries.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she succumbed to her wounds and passed away. Her death was ruled a homicide, leaving behind two young children.
Following the shooting, homicide detectives began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. Authorities appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible.
