In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Minneapolis, a life was cut tragically short. Quentheus Julian Watkins, a 23-year-old Black man, was fatally shot on May 23, 2021. The incident that led to his death began near the intersection of 4th Street North and 24th Avenue North. It was there that he sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Following the shooting, an attempt was made to rush Watkins to the hospital.
However, the vehicle he was in crashed in downtown Minneapolis, at the intersection of 6th Street South and 4th Avenue South. Officers were called to the scene of the crash around 2:40 a.m. and discovered three people in the vehicles involved. Tragically, Watkins was found deceased inside the car. Another passenger in the same vehicle was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with noncritical injuries.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that Quentheus Julian Watkins's death was a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds. At the time of the initial reports, no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting. The Minneapolis Police Department announced that they were actively investigating the homicide. As of late May 2021, the case remained unsolved, with no suspects publicly identified or taken into custody.
