On a cold January evening in 2022, the life of 23-year-old Angelo Roch Morehead was tragically cut short in what became the first homicide of the new year in Minneapolis. The young man from West St. Paul was found lying in the street on the 4200 block of 11th Avenue South on Saturday, January 8th.

Around 9:40 p.m., Minneapolis police responded to reports of gunfire and a vehicle that had crashed into parked cars in the area. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Morehead with a gunshot wound. Immediate life-saving efforts were made by the officers, who performed CPR until an ambulance arrived. Morehead was then rushed to Hennepin Health for medical attention.

Despite the efforts of emergency responders and medical staff, Angelo Morehead succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that his death was a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.

In the days following the fatal shooting, authorities publicly identified Morehead as the victim. However, details about the circumstances leading up to the incident were scarce, with police initially stating they had "limited information" about the shooting. As of late 2025, no arrests have been made in connection with Morehead's death, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing, and police have urged anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers.
