On December 8, 2022, a promising life was tragically cut short when 24-year-old Sharayah Nadae Batchelor, a Black / African American female, was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The incident unfolded in an apartment on the 1200 block of Banneker Avenue North, where police responded to a shooting report shortly after 12:30 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Sharayah with at least one gunshot wound.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts by the officers and emergency responders, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The investigation into Sharayah's death quickly led to a suspect. Later the same day, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a 23-year-old man was apprehended in the 300 block of North 27th Avenue. This individual was subsequently booked into the Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of murder.
Further investigation revealed the suspect to be Clifton Dawayne Latimore Ingram, who was formally charged with second-degree murder in connection with Sharayah's shooting death. According to the criminal complaint, the fatal encounter was precipitated by an argument. A witness reported that the dispute began when Sharayah became upset with Ingram for having marijuana on her table. The argument escalated, leading Ingram to pull out a revolver. He then fired at Sharayah before fleeing the apartment. Surveillance footage captured Ingram leaving the scene, and the revolver with two spent cartridge casings was later found in his room upon his arrest. Ingram admitted to being at the apartment on the day of the shooting.
