In the late hours of a Saturday in Cochran, Georgia, the life of 24-year-old Kevontez Deshaveon Farrow, an African American male known to his friends as 'Taz,' was brought to a violent and tragic end. On October 29, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Farrow was standing outside a residence at 112 Ell Street when he was fatally shot. Emergency services were called to the scene where they found Farrow with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was quickly transported to Bleckley Memorial Hospital, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead a short time later. An autopsy was subsequently performed at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner's Office in Decatur.
The investigation into Farrow's death, a joint effort by the Cochran Police Department, the Bleckley County Sheriff's Office, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, soon revealed that the shooting was the culmination of an armed robbery. Investigators determined that Farrow had a firearm taken from him during the incident. The case drew significant attention as law enforcement worked to bring those responsible to justice. The investigation highlighted concerns about gang-related violence within the community.
Less than a month after the fatal shooting, authorities announced a major breakthrough in the case. On November 23, 2022, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed the arrests of three teenagers in connection with Farrow's murder. The suspects were identified as 16-year-old Dashawn Adams of Warner Robins, 17-year-old Kameryn Ke'mauri Mims of Macon, and 19-year-old Taquez Mentrae Moore Jr. of Warner Robins. The U.S. Marshals Service Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended the three individuals.
The trio of suspects faces a litany of serious charges, reflecting the gravity of the crime. Each has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, three counts of aggravated assault, and armed robbery. Additionally, they face charges of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and multiple counts of violating the street gang terrorism and prevention act.
