In the early morning hours of September 16, 2016, the life of 24-year-old Devonte Raqualle Johnson, a male from East Dublin, Georgia, was tragically cut short. Johnson was attending a party at the 'Community House' in Cochran, Georgia, when gunfire erupted at approximately 12:10 a.m. He was struck by the bullets and swiftly transported to the Navicent Health Medical Center for emergency care.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Johnson was pronounced dead upon his arrival.
The Cochran Police Department promptly requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to lead the homicide investigation. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement officials began actively pursuing leads, with assistance from the Middle Georgia State University Police. At the time, authorities had not taken anyone into custody and publicly appealed for anyone with information to come forward and contact either the GBI or the Cochran Police Department.
