On the night of March 9, 2025, Jamie White, a 36-year-old white male journalist for InfoWars, was fatally shot outside his residence at the Chandelier Apartments on Douglas Street in South Austin, Texas. Responding to a call at approximately 11:56 p.m., Austin Police Department officers found White lying in the parking lot with severe trauma. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:19 a.m. on March 10.
Investigations revealed that White had confronted individuals attempting to burglarize his green Kia Soul. Evidence at the scene, including a broken window and blood inside the vehicle, suggested a struggle occurred during the attempted theft. This incident marked the second time White's vehicle had been targeted, with a previous break-in occurring during the Christmas holidays.
On April 30, 2025, authorities arrested 17-year-old Eloy Adrian Camarillo in connection with White's murder. Camarillo was charged with capital murder and is being held on a $250,000 bond. Surveillance footage, vehicle theft reports, and cellphone location data linked Camarillo to the crime. He admitted that he and his associates intended to "joyride" the vehicle and claimed White was shot during the confrontation.
The investigation also uncovered that a black Kia Soul, reported stolen days before the incident, was used by the suspects and later found abandoned in East Austin. Authorities believe the group may be responsible for other vehicle burglaries in the area. As of now, no additional arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
InfoWars founder Alex Jones expressed condolences to White’s family and criticized local political leadership, attributing White’s death to policies he believes have contributed to escalating crime rates in Austin.
