In the autumn of 1899, a sense of duty called Officer Robert A. Dickerson to assist fellow lawmen in the town of Doniphan, located in Doniphan County, Kansas. A store robbery had been committed, and a posse was formed to track down the perpetrators. Officer Dickerson, a member of the Atchison Police Department, joined the pursuit of the suspects.
