Ambrose Donahue, male, age 38, was a merchant policeman in Leavenworth, Kansas whose end of watch came on July 2, 1910. That evening he and three fellow officers moved into the Missouri Pacific rail yards to deal with a trespasser reported in a boxcar. When they attempted to take the man into custody, the suspect opened fire, mortally wounding Donahue before fleeing into the darkness of the yards.
