On February 9, 2016, Leslie Geneva Jacobson, a 26-year-old White female, was found deceased in a Kansas City, Kansas apartment. A concerned friend made the discovery after not hearing from her and another individual, 31-year-old Micky Burke. Police were called to the residence in the 1800 block of North 76th Street, where they found both Jacobson and Burke with fatal gunshot wounds.
Leslie, who worked as a leasing agent for Three Fountains Apartments and Townhomes in Kansas City,
Missouri, had attended a Super Bowl party with Burke on the preceding Sunday. They had returned to the apartment that night. When the friend went to check on them on Tuesday morning, the tragic scene was discovered.
Initially, the circumstances surrounding their deaths were investigated as a double homicide. However, the investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department later concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide. Authorities determined that Micky Burke shot Leslie Jacobson before turning the gun on himself. No other suspects were sought in connection with the case, and no arrests were made as the perpetrator was deceased. The findings brought a somber conclusion to the investigation, leaving friends and family to mourn the loss of two lives.
