In the quiet of a Sunday in Junction City, Kansas, the life of 21-year-old Dakota Blake Noah, a Caucasian male, came to a tragic end on January 21, 2018. A private in the U.S. Army, Noah was an infantryman with Company B, 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley. He had joined the military in September 2016 and arrived at the Kansas post in January of the following year.
On that fateful day, the Geary County
Sheriff's Office received a report of an armed and potentially suicidal man inside a vehicle. Deputies, along with officers from the Grandview Plaza Police Department, were dispatched to the scene. They found Noah sitting in his parked car in an access driveway. The officers attempted to establish communication with him, but their efforts were tragically cut short.
While still inside his vehicle, Noah sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to Geary Community Hospital, but his life could not be saved, and he was pronounced dead. The Geary County Sheriff's Office handled the investigation into his death. There were no arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the incident, as the authorities determined his death to be a suicide.
