On a cold Sunday afternoon in February, the life of Bonnie Galloway, a 38-year-old Caucasian woman, was tragically cut short in Wichita, Kansas. On February 13, 2022, police responded to a call and discovered Galloway and a friend, 30-year-old Connor O'Callaghan, deceased inside a residence on South Erie Avenue. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The initial investigation suggested the incident was not random, pointing to a disturbance that occurred at the home where the two victims, who were known to each other, were present.
Remembered by her family as an outgoing mother of three with an infectious smile, Galloway was a person who never met a stranger and was fiercely loyal to her friends. She and O'Callaghan were found in a shed behind the main house where Galloway had reportedly been living. A resident of the home discovered the tragic scene and immediately alerted the authorities. The investigation quickly revealed that the violent events stemmed from a dispute believed to be connected to illegal drugs.
The subsequent police investigation led to the arrests of two men, Brandon Prouse Jr., who was 20 at the time, and Justin Macormac. The two men, who were acquainted with Galloway, had gone to the residence with the intent to rob the victims of drugs. During the course of the robbery, Macormac shot both Galloway and O'Callaghan while they were sitting on a couch. Following the shootings, the perpetrators took guns and cellphones before fleeing the scene. Justin Macormac was later convicted of first-degree premeditated murder and voluntary manslaughter, receiving a sentence that will likely keep him incarcerated for the rest of his life. Brandon Prouse Jr. was also sentenced to a lengthy prison term for his role in the double homicide.
