On a tragic day in April of 2022, the life of a 27-year-old Caucasian female named Satha E. Baum of Topeka, Kansas, was cut short. On April 10th, while driving westbound on Interstate 70 near Solomon, Kansas, Baum sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office received a report of a gunshot victim and responded to the scene at a Dollar General in Solomon.
Emergency medical services arrived and transported Baum to Salina Regional Health Center.
Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the hospital. An investigation into the circumstances of the shooting was launched by the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office. The investigation led to the identification and arrest of a suspect in connection with the incident.
Authorities took 48-year-old Eric S. Wymore from Beulah, Colorado, into custody. Wymore was subsequently charged with involuntary manslaughter for his alleged role in Satha Baum's death. He was booked into the Dickinson County Detention Center and held without bond pending his initial court appearance. The events that transpired leading up to the fatal shooting were not immediately disclosed by law enforcement officials.
