On the evening of May 17, 2022, a road-rage incident in Lawrence, Kansas, escalated into a fatal shooting that left two men dead, including 53-year-old White/Caucasian male Monty Ray Amick. The altercation began near the intersection of 23rd and Harper streets and continued for several blocks. The dispute reportedly started when Amick made a comment about the loud exhaust on a truck in which 22-year-old Zachary Michael Sutton was a passenger.
