On December 1, 2013, Sherod J. Nesbitt, aged 24, was shot and killed in the 11100 block of South Vernon Avenue in Chicago. Nesbitt was found lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to the head. This tragic incident occurred shortly after Thanksgiving weekend, during a time when Chicago experienced a wave of violence, with several shooting incidents reported across the city during the same period.
