In the spring of 2015, a sense of loss rippled through a Washington, D.C. family when 49-year-old Charles David Hatcherson was killed. On the afternoon of Thursday, April 23, 2015, at approximately 1:50 p.m., police responded to a call on the 4300 block of Gault Place in Northeast Washington. Upon arrival, they discovered Hatcherson unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency responders were unable to save the man, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident was quickly classified as a homicide, prompting an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department. Hatcherson, a resident of Southeast Washington, was remembered by his family as a funny and loud individual with a keen interest in Wall Street, often engaging with financial news commentators on television.
In the days leading up to his death, Hatcherson had been in contact with his niece, expressing his pride and intention to attend her upcoming graduation from a master's program in California.
