In the early evening of August 8, 2016, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in a Northwest Washington, D.C. neighborhood, leaving a man fatally wounded. Donald Stephen Johnson Jr., a 45-year-old Black male, was discovered by police in the parking lot of the Emery Recreation Center on the 5700 block of Georgia Avenue, NW, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
