On a Tuesday afternoon in Southeast Washington, D.C., a dispute over marijuana escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 35-year-old Joe Cook. The incident unfolded around 1:54 p.m. on September 6, 2016, in the 2500 block of Elvans Road SE. Authorities reported that Cook, a resident of Southeast D.C., was shot at least twice. After the shooting, he was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy later revealed a total of 16 gunshot wounds.
