On September 24, 2017, Tsegaye Gebrehiwot, a 55-year-old resident of Washington, DC, was assaulted during a robbery in the 5100 block of 2nd Street NW at approximately 11:05 PM. The attack left him with severe injuries, and despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on November 13, 2017. The medical examiner's office confirmed that his death was due to a traumatic brain injury sustained during the assault.
