On a Tuesday night in Washington, D.C., the life of a 25-year-old Black man, Taquan Smith, was tragically cut short. On October 30, 2018, at approximately 10:29 p.m., members of the Sixth District of the Metropolitan Police Department rushed to the 4800 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast, after hearing the sound of gunshots. Upon their arrival, they discovered a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
