In the afternoon hours of December 10, 2018, tragedy struck in Southeast Washington, D.C., when Richard Lee Dudley, a 37-year-old male, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 12:10 p.m. in the 2500 block of Elvans Road SE, a residential area near the Suitland Parkway.
Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a call for the sound of gunshots in the area. Upon their arrival, they discovered Richard Lee Dudley suffering from several gunshot wounds.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital in an attempt to save his life, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Dudley's death led to a breakthrough a few months later. In February 2019, authorities arrested 38-year-old Robert Tyrone Henson in connection with the fatal shooting. Henson, who was described as having no fixed address, was subsequently charged with second-degree murder while armed for his alleged role in the death of Richard Lee Dudley.
