On June 22, 2019, Melton Grant, a 45-year-old man from Washington, DC, was fatally shot in the 600 block of Morton Street, Northwest. The incident occurred around 9:51 PM when members of the Fourth District responded to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Grant unconscious and not breathing, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
