In the early morning hours of January 5, 2020, a gathering among acquaintances in Southwest Washington, D.C. took a tragic and fatal turn. Inside a residence on the 1400 block of 3rd Street, SW, 26-year-old Xavier Tate, a male resident of Northeast, D.C., was shot multiple times following an argument. The events leading to his death began as a social evening where he was present with Bratrell Hawkins, Hawkins' girlfriend, and another friend.
