In the early hours of January 3, 2021, the life of 22-year-old Kaaliyha Rainey was tragically cut short, marking the first homicide of the new year in Washington, D.C. She was a female who was in a vehicle with her mother, returning from a family celebration. As they drove along the 3800 block of Wheeler Road in Southeast D.C. at approximately 2:30 a.m., their car was suddenly caught in the crossfire of a rolling gun battle between two other vehicles.
