On February 23, 2021, at approximately 1:34 pm, Marcus Covington, aged 49, was shot and killed in the 1100 block of Howard Road, Southeast, Washington, DC. The incident occurred near the Anacostia Metro Station, where members of the Seventh District and the Metro Transit Police responded to reports of a shooting.
