In the evening hours of a Friday in late October, the sounds of gunshots shattered the night in Northwest Washington, D.C. When police responded to the 5000 block of First Street, Northwest, at approximately 7:52 p.m. on October 22, 2021, they discovered a man lying unconscious and unresponsive. The man, later identified as 32-year-old Marquise Jones, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
