In the evening hours of a Friday in late October, the sounds of gunshots shattered the night in Northwest Washington, D.C. When police responded to the 5000 block of First Street, Northwest, at approximately 7:52 p.m. on October 22, 2021, they discovered a man lying unconscious and unresponsive. The man, later identified as 32-year-old Marquise Jones, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene, but it was too late; Jones showed no signs of life
and was pronounced dead. His body remained at the location until being transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. At the time of the incident, Marquise Jones was described as having no fixed address.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are actively investigating the case. As of the reports, no arrests had been made, and no suspects had been publicly identified in connection with the shooting. The department is offering a substantial reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his death. Authorities have encouraged anyone with knowledge of the case to come forward and contact the police.
