In the early morning hours of Saturday, April 16, 2022, the life of 26-year-old John Jones IV was tragically cut short. A Black/African American male from Temple Hills, Maryland, Jones was in the 1100 block of Raum Street, Northeast, in Washington, D.C., when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 4:08 a.m. in the Ivy City neighborhood, a detail that adds a somber note to the residential area's usual quiet.
Metropolitan Police Department officers from the Fifth District responded to a report of a shooting and discovered Jones unconscious and not breathing, suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene, but their efforts were in vain as they determined that Jones had already succumbed to his injuries.
His body was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The Metropolitan Police Department has been actively investigating the homicide and has appealed to the public for assistance in gathering information. Despite their ongoing efforts and a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction, the case remains unsolved.
