In the late afternoon of a November day in Washington, D.C., a shooting incident tragically cut short the life of 17-year-old Eric Mercer. On Friday, November 22, 2019, at approximately 3:11 pm, officers from the Sixth District of the Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 4700 block of Benning Road, Southeast, following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mercer, a resident of Northwest, D.C., suffering from a gunshot wound.
