On August 25, 2005, James Cousart Sr. was shot and killed in the early morning hours at approximately 1:35 a.m. on the 1400 block of First Street NW, Washington, D.C. The altercation that led to his death reportedly began when Cousart got into an argument with Bobby Johnson Sr., who was sitting outside with another individual.
