On July 9, 2022, 17-year-old Damari Deon Wright from Alexandria, Virginia, was found fatally shot in a vehicle on Hayes Street NE in Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of gunshots around 5:25 p.m. and discovered Wright with multiple gunshot wounds inside the car. Despite immediate efforts, Wright was pronounced dead at the scene.
