In the pre-dawn hours of September 7, 2015, a violent encounter in a Las Vegas parking lot claimed the life of 37-year-old Iris Rene Spiller, an African American female. The tragic events unfolded at approximately 12:02 a.m. at an extended stay apartment complex situated in the 5600 block of South Boulder Highway.
Spiller was in the company of two other people in the parking lot when they were confronted by two armed African American men.
An argument erupted between the groups, which quickly escalated to gunfire. The two armed assailants shot Spiller and another individual who was with her. Spiller died at the scene from her injuries.
The suspects were described as wearing dark clothing and were seen fleeing the area in a silver vehicle of an unknown make and model. Despite the investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Section, no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the murder of Iris Rene Spiller. The case remains open, and authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward.
