Calla Marie Medig, a 28-year-old Caucasian female from Jasper, Alberta, Canada, had traveled to Las Vegas in late September 2017 for what had become an annual tradition. It was her third time attending the Route 91 Harvest country music festival, a trip she took with her best friend. She was in a celebratory mood, having recently been promoted to a manager position at the Moxie's restaurant where she worked in Edmonton.
