On April 9, 2021, Candice Cooks, a 27-year-old woman from Las Vegas, Nevada, was fatally shot in an incident that led to the arrest and subsequent conviction of the perpetrator.

The incident occurred in the 1800 block of North Decatur Boulevard in Las Vegas. According to authorities, Candice Cooks was shot by Kevin Osborne, a 31-year-old man, after she took his wallet. The confrontation escalated when Cooks stole Osborne's wallet, prompting him to chase her and ultimately shoot her.
