In the early morning hours of January 20, 2018, a violent encounter in Las Vegas, Nevada, left 28-year-old Manuel de Jesus Parra-Luna dead. The incident, which unfolded near Ethel Pearson Park, was the tragic culmination of a love triangle. Parra-Luna was with his girlfriend when her husband, 41-year-old Jorge Rodriguez, suddenly appeared.
Rodriguez, in a fit of rage, rammed his vehicle into Parra-Luna as he was getting out of his pickup truck.
After the collision, Rodriguez exited his own car and opened fire on both Parra-Luna and the woman. Parra-Luna was fatally shot in the head. His death was later ruled a homicide by the Clark County coroner. The woman sustained gunshot wounds to her legs but was expected to survive.
Following the shooting, Jorge Rodriguez turned the gun on himself, ending his own life at the scene. His death was confirmed as a suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Authorities indicated that Rodriguez and his wife had children together, and she may have recently informed him of her intention to leave him. It was unclear to investigators how Rodriguez knew his wife and Parra-Luna would be at the park that morning, as none of them resided in that area. There was no prior history of documented domestic violence involving the three individuals.
