In the late afternoon of February 3, 2018, a dispute in a Las Vegas strip mall parking lot tragically escalated, leading to the death of 41-year-old David Parsons. The incident began as a verbal argument between Parsons, a male, and another man in the parking lot of Owens Plaza. The disagreement soon turned physical, moving from the parking lot into a nearby store where a fistfight broke out.
The altercation then spilled back outside, where the unidentified man was attempting to leave in
a newer-model Dodge Charger with dark-tinted windows, accompanied by a woman. As Parsons approached the vehicle, a struggle ensued, culminating in the other man fatally shooting Parsons in the chest. The suspect and his female companion then fled the scene in the Charger. Authorities who arrived just before 2 p.m. found Parsons lying on the ground with a fatal gunshot wound. His death was officially ruled a homicide.
In the days following the shooting, investigators released descriptions of the two individuals they deemed "people of interest." The suspected shooter was described as a tall Black man with his hair in short braids, which were covered by a black do-rag. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored sweater, a gold necklace, dark jeans, and black shoes. The woman with him was described as a heavier-set Black woman wearing a gray tank top and blue jeans. Despite the release of these descriptions and surveillance video footage of the altercation to the public, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of David Parsons. The case remains unsolved, and the identities of the suspect and his companion are still unknown.
