On November 22, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in southwest Las Vegas, resulting in the death of 21-year-old Dakota Michael Bublin. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Bublin was involved in a narcotics transaction that turned deadly. The incident took place near the intersection of West Mesa Vista Avenue, Hacienda Avenue, and Buffalo Drive, although some reports also mention the area around Durango Drive and Tropicana Avenue as the location of the encounter.
During the drug deal, Bublin met with a 15-year-old suspect. At some point, both Bublin and the juvenile suspect pulled out handguns. The 15-year-old suspect fired several rounds, hitting Bublin multiple times. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in a gray sedan driven by a second juvenile suspect.
Bublin was found by police suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was immediately transported to the University Medical Center in Las Vegas. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The investigation led by the LVMPD Homicide Section resulted in the identification and subsequent arrest of the two juvenile suspects involved in the incident. The suspects, whose identities have not been released due to their age, were charged with one count of Open Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder. The arrests were a culmination of thorough investigative work by the police, who urged anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward.
The case highlights the tragic consequences of violent encounters, particularly those involving minors and illicit activities.
