On October 1, 2020, a tragic incident occurred in Las Vegas, Nevada, resulting in the death of 16-year-old Arthur Earl Davis IV. The event unfolded at a residence in the 7000 block of Canary Ivy Way, near the intersection of Lake Mead and Hollywood boulevards. Davis was at the home playing video games with two other teenagers, including the suspect, when an argument broke out.
The dispute was over a video game, and it escalated to a point where one of the teenagers, identified as
Zaishaun White, then 14 years old, brandished a gun. According to the arrest report, White and Davis got into an argument, and a third teen attempted to intervene, leading to a struggle over the gun. During this struggle, the gun discharged, striking Davis in the left side. Davis was standing about 6 feet away from the altercation and was pronounced dead at the scene due to a gunshot wound to the chest, which was later confirmed by the Clark County coroner.
Following the shooting, White fled the scene but was soon found by police hiding in nearby bushes. The gun believed to be used in the killing was recovered in the bedroom where the incident occurred. White was taken into custody and initially arrested as a juvenile. He was later booked at the Clark County Detention Center on November 25, 2020, on multiple felonies, although prosecutors ultimately approved only a charge of murder with a deadly weapon.
The arrest report detailed that after the shooting, White rushed out of the bedroom and was heard saying, 'I'm sorry, I didn't mean it.' This statement was reported by another witness present at the scene. White did not provide a statement to the authorities during his arrest. He was scheduled to appear in Las Vegas Justice Court, but as of the reports, no attorney had been identified for him.
Arthur Earl Davis IV was remembered by his family as a promising and kind-hearted youth. A GoFundMe page was set up to help cover funeral costs, describing Davis as a 'beautiful soul, a kind, smart, loving young man' whose life was cut short by gun violence at the age of 16.
