On the night of July 4, 2021, a Fourth of July party in North Las Vegas turned tragic, resulting in the death of 22-year-old Aljavonn Williams, a Black male. The celebration, held in the 1200 block of West Helen Avenue, near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Carey Avenue, was shattered by gunfire at approximately 11:14 p.m. Williams was one of nine individuals shot during the incident.
