In a quiet North Las Vegas neighborhood, a domestic dispute on a summer evening escalated into a fatal encounter. On July 13, 2015, Tsai F. Mattox, a 70-year-old woman, was shot in her home. The residence, located on the 2300 block of Plumeria Avenue, near the intersection of Losee and Lone Mountain roads, became the scene of a tragedy that would end one life and irrevocably alter another.
Following an argument, Tsai was shot in the chest.
A 911 call was made by her husband, 78-year-old Arthur Mattox, who admitted to shooting his wife. When authorities arrived, they found Tsai gravely wounded. She was rushed to University Medical Center in an attempt to save her life, but the single gunshot wound proved to be fatal, and she was pronounced dead.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, the North Las Vegas police took Arthur Mattox into custody. He was subsequently booked into the Clark County Detention Center, facing a charge of open murder in connection with his wife's death. A judge set his bail at $1 million.
