On the afternoon of New Year's Eve 2021, Clarice Yamaguchi, a 66-year-old Asian woman from Waipahu, Hawaii, was fatally shot in Las Vegas, Nevada. She and her husband, Robert, were in the city for the holidays and were heading into the Fashion Show mall to do some shopping before their flight home. As they were getting out of their car in the mall's parking garage around 1:30 p.m., a silver BMW approached them.
