In the evening hours of August 29, 2022, a tragic event unfolded in Reno, Nevada, leading to the death of 27-year-old Hispanic male, Jose Gonzalez. Officers from the Reno Police Department were dispatched to the vicinity of the Lakemill Lodge after receiving a report of a man down in the roadway. Upon arrival, they discovered Gonzalez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The Washoe County coroner's office would later confirm that Gonzalez succumbed to gunshot wounds to his head,
torso, and leg. The severity of his injuries underscored the violent nature of the attack. The incident was quickly treated as a homicide, prompting an intensive investigation by the Reno Police Department.
Within a short period, the investigation led to the identification and apprehension of two suspects. Chris Cruz, 21, and Sheevan Patel, 22, were taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. Both men were subsequently booked into the Washoe County jail on open murder charges. While arrests have been made, authorities have continued to encourage anyone with additional information regarding the incident to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
