On May 28, 2024, 23-year-old Xavier Townsend-Keith was fatally shot near a bus stop at East 51st Street and Prospect Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. He had just walked his girlfriend to the bus stop and remained there to use the public Wi-Fi, a routine he often followed. Around 1 p.m., Kansas City police found him lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds; he was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
